“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than you
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”Philippians 2:3-4What is Paul telling us in these verses? Well, he’s kind of taking a different approach to Jesus’ command to, “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Paul’s is instead telling us that when we put ourselves first, our selfish pride, we cannot be truly seeking love. So, he’s saying that as Christians we should place other’s needs before our own and and other people before us. By putting the needs of others first, we pursue the kind of humility that leads to mutual love and unity. The emphasis was not on self, but on others. Man, when we can do this we feel humility. This is tough, nobody is doubting it. But we must try and put others before us for the sake of bearing good fruit. I know I’ve struggled with the desire for my own selfish wants and needs and it has caused internal conflict because I want to serve God and my neighbor too...how can I serve my neighbor without neglecting myself? I don’t have the answer, I just know where to look. God has given us the greatest gift of all, his grace. We can try to share it, as we should. Serving others seems to be the best place to start. Who can you serve today?Peace,

Before Your Feet Hit the Floor
Before your feet hit the floor each morning, surrender the day to Him. Humility isn't thinking less of ourselves, it's thinking of ourselves less often. His will over our own.

What Does It Matter?
When you find yourself judging someone else's motives for sharing the gospel, ask what Paul asked from his prison cell: what does it matter? As long as Christ is preached.
