Finding Balance Through Compassion and Service
I was talking to one of you yesterday about the days writing I sent out. I always appreciate a good conversation around the messages I send out. Especially when they hit home and are appreciated. I genuinely cherish each of you and love the exchanges. “When two or more are gathered” right!? Anyhow, we talked about finding the balance in your life. So, I got to thinking about how we get started exactly? First, we need to have that desire to serve God. How can I help my brother or sister, assist someone in need, give within my abilities or even greater, give when I feel I have nothing left to give? We all have something to give. For me, one of my things is this devotional and the time I put into it. These are the moments God promotes you to a new level in your faith. We are all called and intended to give away the good things God has given us. The easiest of course is your time. God’s desire is that we shine His light on others as someone once shined His light on us. The result of spreading compassion in all seasons and situations is a fire will start kindling inside of us. You didn’t know the impact you could make by that one little kind thing you did for your neighbor. God knows the impact and as we start making those baby steps towards putting compassion at the top of our list in regards to how to perceive and treat those around us, we will see God in a whole new light. Our faith will be elevated to new heights and we will look back seeing tremendous growth in our Christian walk. God’s will on our life is unconditional. His love for us is unconditional. He expects and wants us to share the good news and attributes of Christ the same way, to the rest of the flock… unconditionally.I began praying for compassion not too long ago. God is slowly giving it to me and I can feel his grace. I know you will as well. So, I encourage you to take a step of faith this week and test yourself in a new capacity, one that is without gain but only that can do good for someone else and watch the balance start coming back into your life. What you once thought as monumental problems of your own will start dissipating because you will start focusing on other things. You will start seeing lives changed in the process, including your own. I know I have...“Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.”1 Peter 3:8-9 Be Nice. Grace wins,
