From Wandering to Peace: God's Path to Satisfaction
Ever noticed that those that seem to wander never seem to be settled? I guess what I am saying is that there are people we come across in our lives, could even be us, that never truly find peace and serenity in their lives because they keep looking for it. They keep trying to plot their own course in life instead of trusting the one God has laid out for them. I’ve been this person and I know what a sense of lost feels like. “Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.”Psalm 107:4-9 ESVA lot of times we get lost or off track for a short period of time or when we are going through a difficult stage in our life. Most of the times, we don’t just make a 180 degree turn and get back out of it. We flounder around until we become hopeless before we reach for help. The power of God's love guides and settles. His promise to those who wander is that he will satisfy when they cry out to Him.Look, I get it, sometimes we swap purpose for pleasure, sometimes we journey toward empty pursuit, and sometimes we succumb to an unintentional lifestyle. All of these roads lead to the same destination of longing, and within a matter of time, we find ourselves depleted. I think about the old saying, “a rolling stone gathers no moss...”. My grandmother would say that a lot to me. A devoutly Christian woman, as I’ve grown older and closer to God, I now know what she meant. Those who wander are never fulfilled; yet, those who cry out to God in their trouble will be delivered from whatever trouble they’re in. By God's grace, he offers guidance. When we decide to follow God's way instead of charting our own course, he settles our minds and our hearts. When we commit to the calling he has placed on our lives, we experience his blessing of provision that satisfies every need and he fills our lives with good things! This is when you will experience the real PEACE that you seek.
