Give Thanks in All Circumstances
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:18 Yesterday was the saddest day I’ve experienced since the day my father passed on August 22nd. You see, his house has been sold and it was time to begin packing up and moving on. It was the first time I had to face the emptiness of him being gone by going through his personal things. I don’t remember crying so much in my whole life. But behind my sadness was gratitude. Gratitude for the fact God blessed me with a father who loved deeply and served the Lord selflessly. But it got me thinking that in the midst of our busy daily routine, we often forget how blessed we are. It is a known fact that if you have food on your table, clothes to wear, a roof over your head, clean drinking water, electricity, and someone you can call family, you are richer than 70% of the world! But gratefulness is not just about being thankful for what we have, because we are asked to give thanks to the Lord in all circumstances. There might be many things bothering us today, but we will never lack reasons to be thankful. Gratefulness is an expression of humility. When we are grateful to God or man, we take the focus off ourselves. Many times we tend to focus on what we don’t have, or look around for what is wrong. Complaining and fault-finding aren’t signs of a grateful man. So, try and take some time to see some good in everything that happens to you today, and be grateful to God. While I am sad, I am genuinely grateful. Have a great weekendBe Nice, Grace Wins!
