Guard Your Heart: Choose Your Circle Wisely
Continuing with attitude, we need to look at what influences our attitudes. Most often than not, it’s the people around us that tend to shape our attitudes. To change our attitude, we may need to change who we are letting influence us. The words of the people closest to us permeate our heart, which is the source of our attitude. So while we can’t always control what happens to us, we can guard what saturates our hearts. If we don’t, eventually, negativity will wear us out and leave us defeated. Don’t believe me? Watch the news for an hour and tell me how you feel... It will leave our hearts exposed and infused with everything other than Christ’s truth. I told Valerie, just last night, that you have to stop watching the news because it will beat you down with fear and negativity. Take it in small doses, when you hear or get the idea of what’s happening, turn it off...don’t roll around in it. God says, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Our inner circle of friends must be searching for Christ and His wisdom. This will help guard our hearts, and therefore our attitudes.Mama always said, “lay with dogs and you’re gonna get fleas...”. Grandmothers are always right. “Do not be deceived: "Bad company ruins good morals."”1 Corinthians 15:33 Be Nice. Grace wins.
