Chew on this over the weekend...“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”Galatians 1:10 How many of us fall guilty of this? My hand is raised! This hit me right square in the face and I think it deserves a weekend to chew on. When we are focusing so much on what we do because of what people think, who are we really serving? Ourselves, others? Certainly not God. In the Marine Corps, they live by a creed, “God, Unit, Corp.”. In our own lives, what is our order? Where does God fall in our life? I’m going to say, if it starts out with anything other than God, we’ve got it out of order. I’ve heard people refer to the term “between Sunday’s”. I think this begs a great question for us all. What are we doing between Sundays to grow and worship God? Are we putting others before ourselves, are we finding time each day for meditation and prayer? These are just some of the things that are involved when we serve the Lord. The list goes on, but I venture you get the idea. Look, I fall into this mindset all too often. I get caught up in work, making quarterly numbers, etc. I find myself many times focusing on the next weekend’s race, working on bikes to prepare. For you it could be golf, kids, little league, cheerleading. The point is we all fall into the trap of letting our lives become who we serve. We put everything first before God and then wonder and worry when our earthly desires don’t work out. We got it wrong brothers!I spent the first 40 years of my life serving myself, my golf game and a good time. When I thought I had everything figured out, I found what I had was a whole in my heart the size of Texas. I had it all wrong. It was all about me and what others thought of me. When I finally started listening to God, putting him first, it was then and only then when I began to feel His grace and learn of a serenity I had yearned for my whole life. Crazy to think back, but I was saved again. “Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?”1 Corinthians 3:16 Have a great weekend!Go Dawgs!

A Better Script
Waiting is boring and passive, and we want things now. But waiting on God builds trust and lets us see His will unfold. When I am ready, He unfolds a script beyond anything I could write myself.

Retreat or Restore
After our greatest failures, we want to hide. But hiding means nobody helps clean up the mess. Real men own up, confess, and let God cleanse. Retreat or repent and restore, what will you choose?

Nothing Nice to Say
Death and life are in the tongue. What comes out of the mouth flows from what's stored in the heart. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Turns out that was the whole thing.
