Breaking Free from the Victim Mentality Through Forgiveness
It’s hard to see the news today and not see one faction of our society playing the victim over something. I’m fact, I think we as a society have become victims. It’s like nobody wants to be held responsible for their won actions. It’s like the decision we make doesn’t matter anymore because when it goes bad, it’s not our fault. Please, tell me I’m wrong! Look, we all know someone who, when they talk about something that hurt them years ago, it sounds as if it happened yesterday. The pain has held them in bondage all that time. “See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;”Hebrews 12:15 We can’t let that bitterness (poison or cancer) grow inside of us. In one way or another, we’ve all been done wrong, but forgiveness saves us from becoming a victim. When we forgive, we can leave painful incidents behind and not let them color our future. We can let it go and walk away to live free from torment and a victim mentality...this is some of that serenity I talk about so often. Be Nice, Grace Wins
