Facing Fears with the Good Shepherd
I’m sorry for missing last week but I was out of town and had zero internet and data...It was wonderful! So, I went back to Race the Winter Nationals, 2nd largest Amateur Race in the US, where I was seriously injured a year ago. I had to face my fears and “get back on that horse”...How do I go back? How do I put myself back in harms way and face my fears? How do YOU do it? I put my faith in the Lord. Period. During the day leading up to the race and the drive down, I spent time meditating on David’s 23rd Psalm:“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”Psalms 23:1-6 You see, every good Shepherd knows that to reach the lush green pastures of the highlands when our pastures down here are bare, we must travel through the valleys of the mountains. David is telling us, however implied, that we cannot face our fears or even death without facing God. Don’t even speak of death without speaking to God. He and he alone can guide us through the valley. What fears are you facing today, this week or in your life that you need to talk to God about? He’s the good Shepherd, He knows the way home and only He can get you there...Have a great week!God>MePeace,
