Forgiveness: The Key to Freedom from Bitterness
As we ease into the weekend, I want to talk about something that caused me some restlessness last night. Forgiveness. You see, I had something come up yesterday where somebody has decided to not take responsibility for something they did to me. A random person, whom I don’t know, has decided not to pay for damages done to my truck by their negligence and instead decided to hire an attorney to tell me how they weren’t going to pay. Kind of infuriating and sad at the same time. It’s seems to be a recurring theme these days in our society where folks refuse to take responsibility for their actions. Nobody takes any account ability for themselves these days. Anyhow, it’s just not that big of a deal to me, so I’m blowing it off. They need it more than me, I guess…so, I will forgive and move on. Forgiveness is everything, it’s what we’ve been given and it’s insuring our eternity. But are you giving it like it was given to you?“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”Ephesians 4:31-32 But he we are celebrating the one who forgives us for any and all our sins but yet I hear so often about how we don’t speak to “so and so” because they did “whatever”. Or, we are letting something someone did to us in the past put us on the path of revenge or resentment. Families not talking or getting together. Look, I get it. Anger, rage, resentfulness, or frustration can lead to serious physical and mental problems. Our mind is constantly under stress, even in our sleep. If those emotions are caused by the behavior of others, there is only one way to free ourselves free and that’s to forgive!Otherwise, what other people do will haunt you forever. Forgiving is something you do not only do for the sake of the one you're forgiving, but for your own sake as well. It's not easy, but it's important for you in order to set yourself free. Don't worry. God's got your back! With His help, you can do anything possible. Ask Him for His help. He will guard and navigate you through the process. As you forgive, you will be forgiven...Have a great weekend. Be Nice, Grace Wins
