Giving God Glory in Victory
So as I sit here in the airport this morning, I can’t help but reflect on a couple of things I saw last night as I watched Clemson win a National Championship. I saw two men giving the glory to God and bearing witness on the biggest stage in college football, The National Championship game!First, in a pregame interview I hear Freshman QB, Trevor Lawrence say his favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11, this kid is 19 years old! Selfless. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”Jeremiah 29:11 Second was Dabo Swinney, Clemson Head Coach, giving the victory and the success all to the Glory of God. Telling the world, humbly, that this was not of him, that the victory was a blessing. You see, while it was a great game it showed that nothing or nobody is immune to failure, not even the seemingly invincible University of Alabama. But to me, most importantly, I saw two men willing to put the Lord first, at the height of celebration the two gave pause to recognize Gods work in their successes. Because, at the end of the day, what do “we” really accomplish on our own anyway? How can you give thanks today for the blessings God has given you? Can you stop in the height of victories and give God his due?I’m sure trying. Peace,FMJ
