He Never Leaves
You ever get the feeling that when you sin, God has left you? Like when you were a kid and you got in trouble with your parents, and during the punishment it felt like they had walked away from you? I have, for sure.
But here's the thing. That feeling, knowing our parents wouldn't approve, knowing we'd let them down, MOST of the time was enough to make us behave.
Same is true with our Heavenly Father. It's harder to sin when we know God is right there with us.
You see, God doesn't expect His children to be perfect. He doesn't wash His hands of us when we mess up. Instead, when we sin, He reminds us of His presence and the way out that He has provided.
Recognizing God's presence with us, even in our most sinful moments, is in fact a doorway to receiving His grace.
Religion tells us God will bless you only if you're good. That's not what the Gospel says. The Gospel says this: whether God blesses us or disciplines us isn't based on our performance, it's based on our faith in Christ Jesus. Read that again.
But God's grace doesn't give us permission to knowingly sin. Your parents wouldn't allow it, and neither does He.
God showed His perfect grace for us when He sent His Son to the cross to die for our sins. And when we know His presence doesn't leave us, we cherish Him more, and the power of sin slowly loses its grip on us.
"I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'"
Hebrews 13:5-6

Not Earned
Confidence in our salvation doesn't come from our good works, it comes from God's grace. Our good works are the result of our faith, not a requirement for it.

The Sixty-Fifth Time
Sixty-five rounds of Keytruda. Plenty of days I asked God to take it away. So did Paul. God said no, then said something better: my grace is sufficient, my power is perfect in weakness.

He Loved First
Watching the sun come up, I can't help but marvel at what God has made. Loving Someone you can't see takes faith. But faith and action don't earn His love, He loved us first.
