Saturated

2 min readTrustActs 1:4-5

We ended the week talking about waiting. This is a tough one for me, so I've continued my dive into this idea that I can somehow learn to wait, to be patient for what's to come.

I have to remember that time and time again, we're told to wait, and what we're waiting for will be revealed. Right before He ascended, Jesus told His disciples exactly that.

"And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, 'you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.'"

Acts 1:4-5

The word "baptized" means to immerse, to cover, to saturate. To be baptized with the Holy Spirit is to be totally surrounded, saturated, and covered with Him. A person who is saturated knows they are wet. Someone immersed in the Holy Spirit knows it.

John the Baptist said the Messiah would carry out this baptism. And after His resurrection, Jesus told His disciples to wait until they had received it.

Maybe the waiting isn't only about learning patience. Maybe it's about being made ready to receive.

What prayer are you praying as you wait? Is it to be immersed in the Holy Spirit?

Be Nice. Grace Wins.
