Shifting Focus from Wants to Eternal Things
What has your attention and mind lately? I ask because I’ve been thinking about a discussion I had with one of you last week and we talked about being “intentional” with our thinking and how is effects our attitude and gratitude. What do I mean you ask? Well, stay with me here a minute. What I am suggesting, is we need to be more “intentional” or targeted in what we allow our minds to focus on. Are we focusing on what we don’t have and dreaming of what we want or are you able to be thankful for all you have and focus on the eternal? It’s a big mind shift and it’s not easy. But like everything, with practice, it gets easy. When we shift our focus from our wants to what we have, we give the praise to our Provider. Let your focus be on what is around you, what you have inside your home or in your closet and how you can allow those things to fuel your praise. We sometimes need to open our eyes to see what’s right in front of us. When we intentionally focus on seeing God in the midst of the “stuff”, we are redirecting our attention and a shift happens in our heart.“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”2 Corinthians 4:17-18 Be Nice. Grace Wins.
