Grateful for What We Take for Granted
I want to keep talking about gratitude, where our mind is and what we are actually thankful for. We’ve talked all week about being intentional about looking for God in all things. That’s a great habit to form. But part of that looking for God happens not just in the little things in everyday life, but in the things we tend to take for granted. I’m talking about a/c on a hot day. Clean water to drink and a hot shower to relax in. There are so many things that we take for granted that, to be honest, many people around the world don’t even have. Look at what you’re holding in your hand right now. How easy is it to take for granted a $1000 phone? I’d say really easy. But being a grateful believer in Christ, means these things we’ve grown accustomed to we get to notice today. The Bible tells us to shift our thinking away from the earthly things. As we are learning to shift from selfishness and indifference to gratitude, we begin to see everything differently. If we are looking for Him to show up and show off, I promise we will see Him. It takes a purposeful heart to see God and recognize His handiwork. Lets take a moment today, maybe right now, to stop and be thankful for the things we take for granted. We are being intentional to notice God and be mindful of the God things going on around us throughout our day. One of you sent me this thought yesterday regarding this very subject: “What if you woke up tomorrow and you only had what you had thanked God for the day before ?I would not have very much” -Bill CThat’s pretty powerful. “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”Colossians 3:1 Be Nice. Grace Wins.
