The Old Me Belongs to the Past
So, like you most likely, I enjoy music and pretty much have it on whenever and whatever I’m doing. It keeps my mind occupied and it really enjoy it. Sometimes, I will hear a line that sticks in my head or has enough impact that it causes me to think on it for a while. Well, there is a line in Jason Aldean’s song, “I got what I got” that I’ve been wanting to talk about. (I know it sounds corny, but work with me here...)“The old me belongs to the past...”“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1When you are in Christ, the past is history. The guilt, shame, and defeat of the past is history in Christ. The weight of the past is broken through the Blood of Jesus Christ. His Love breaks yokes. His Love breaks every weight. You have a new start in Him. You see, His Love breaks you free from the prison of the past. Condemnation enslaves you. Condemnation reminds you of past guilt, shame, and defeat of the past. Love breaks the weight and power of condemnation. Jesus is that love. So, don’t let you past make it into your present. You have been forgiven and as such, let that grace that has been gifted to you come from you.“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”Ephesians 4:29 Share God’s Grace of the “new you” in everything you do. Leave the past where it belongs, in the past. Be Nice, Grace Wins

Cancel the Debt
Forgiven people should be forgiving people. Forgiveness is a decision to cancel the debt, regardless of whether the other person admits, apologizes, or even knows. Who can you release today?

Paid in Full
A Cody Johnson lyric stopped me cold: Jesus has already paid every debt I owe. Most of us walk around with a tally sheet. But the books were balanced two thousand years ago. Tetelestai. Paid in full.
