Understanding Life's Detours
We always run into detours or audibles in the road map or play book of our lives. We all do. Especially in our relationship with Christ. But why? Why can’t we just be saved and just cruise through life knowing we’re headed for eternity with our maker with no issues here? Well, let’s talk about it...You see, God has a plan for you. He has a plan for your life. He has a purpose for your existence. The reason why you were not taken to heaven the moment after you were saved is because there is a purpose on earth He desires you to live out. Your destiny is not just to go through the motions day in and day out. It is a God designed stamp on your soul that involves the use of your time, talents and treasures for His glory and other people’s good for the advancement of His kingdom and grace. But, the development of your talents, the increase in your grace gained and the wisdom toward your time doesn’t always come quickly. Just as a racer or a pilot must train day in and day out in order to prepare himself or herself for the race, or the flight, we are on a path to destiny that requires work. If you want the juice, be ready for the squeeze. We serve a big God and His is a loving Father. His heart desires for you to be all that you can and should be. But just as any flight instructor wouldn’t send his student up to solo the first day they fly, God knows that we require the time and lessons it will take to develop us to reach our destiny. So what I’m saying is, part of experiencing the fullness of your destiny simply comes in understanding your detours.Far too often, we fail to understand our detours and, as a result, we wind up viewing them in a wrong light. When this happens, we give room for things like impatience, bitterness, regret and doubt to grow. Rather than allowing the detours to produce the development we need, they actually set us back spiritually and setting us up with a need for more detours in order to grow. It can become a vicious cycle.“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”Proverbs 16:3 ESVI think this is a great lesson to chew on for the weekend. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend and we will get back to work on Tuesday. Be Nice, Grace Wins
