A Prayer for Thankfulness
As I'm reading about thankfulness this week, I found myself wanting to put a prayer to it. Something like this has been on my heart.
Lord, everything You do is righteous and holy. I don't always understand the things that happen, but my heart is set on You. I'll rest in Your faithfulness, because You know what's best for me, and You will make a way.
When my mind tries to overrule my heart and fights for the right to complain, I'll bow before Your throne of grace and hand my thoughts over to You. Even when I'm tempted toward confusion, I'll choose to praise instead. I commit to thankfulness, and I'll call to mind the countless ways You've blessed me.
The questions I can't answer, I trust Your love to settle. The hopes that feel dead, I trust You to raise back up. My spirit finds its strength in leaning into Yours. And darkness doesn't stand a chance against a heart that's full of praise.
"Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!"
Psalm 97:11-12
Be Nice. Grace Wins.
