Be Still and Know

1 min readTrustPsalm 46:10-11

"Be still, and know that I am God."

This is from the Psalm of King David.

"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah"

Psalm 46:10-11

I like this verse. But what is it telling us?

Notice that last word, Selah. Most scholars believe it's a musical or literary pause, a moment to stop and let what was just said actually sink in. Even the psalm itself is telling you to be still.

In short, this verse is telling us to stop trying to figure out everything on our own. The Lord isn't just telling us to be still, He's telling us to spend time each day and meditate on His Word. Be silent and listen to Him.

We all need to wake up and stop fearing what's around us, and rest knowing that God's got this. We need to rest in awe of His power and grace.

He is our refuge and our strength.

Be Nice. Grace Wins.
