Choose Joy: Seeking God's Kingdom First
This week we’ve been hosting a young college student at our home who’s been attending the Passion conference in Atlanta. It’s been awesome to see his excitement and enthusiasm for the Lord this week. Last night he was telling us about how Tim Tebow, the ex quarterback now sports announcer, was talking about passion. As I listened to him tell us about Tebow’s testimony, I couldn’t help but think it’s a simple “seek and you will find” principle. If we have passion for something, and choose to pursue something with all our heart, we usually find it… So, this got me thinking, with everything going on in the world today, let’s CHOOSE to be happy. It’s a choice ya know? It’s so easy to sabotage a good day with high expectations and confused priorities, but we have to make the choice to rejoice. Enjoying things is good and it’s God’s plan, but whenever we start looking to things to give us purpose, happiness, or identity, it ultimately leaves us feeling broken and empty. I think a healthy balance of “things” can bring us happiness. I know for me, I am at my best when I have a balance of Faith, work, marriage and play. If I focus too hard in one area the others suffer and ultimately I get disappointed. Choosing the approval of people over God is another awesome formula for losing your joy. Seeking people’s approval won’t bring joy, it will entrap you! In fact, anything you seek more than you seek Him and His kingdom will eventually steal your happiness. “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”Matthew 6:33 Simple message todayBe Nice, Grace Wins
