Day 9I want to jump into forgiveness today as it’s weighing heavy on my mind.Sunday, in my race, I was up front doing well when a guy came in hard and took me out and messed up my bike. Unnecessary?Absolutely! Part of racing? Yep. I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean it either, but it happened. I told him after the race I forgave him, but on the way home I was still mad...so had I really forgiven him? I’m not sure...It is human nature that we do not give those who have wronged us a second chance. We try to forgive them but fail to forget the hurt. It requires a godly nature to be able to forgive a fellow human being from the heart. I try to be, but is it really from the heart or because as flawed men, who have been blessed with forgiveness, we are taught to forgive as well?I think it doesn’t matter. I think the act of forgiveness IS a Godly act and despite the hurt, when we forgive, we are serving our Lord. So by forgiving we are giving people a second chance. “Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.”Matthew 18:21-22 I pray daily for compassion and understanding of others. My hope is that I am blessed with the ability to freely forgive others and be empathetic. “but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”Matthew 6:15Who do you need to forgive today?Love ya, peace!
