Don't Just Rinse - Put in the Work with Christ
I was feeling nostalgic this morning and thought about a topic I know I’ve written about a few times and I went back to some old devotionals and found it. I originally wrote this back in 2019 and I always seem to go back to it, or the subject in my own life. So, as I was washing my race bike on Saturday following a great practice session, for some reason, I reminded myself of a saying I heard somewhere along the way that said, “it’s not clean until a rags hit it”. Got me thinking that this simple task of cleaning my bike could be a metaphor for our relationship with Christ. You see many times, like the bike, we just rinse off our Christianity and don’t put in the work to really shine it up! We look good on the outside, but upon closer examination we find we haven’t really put in the work to “know” the Word and work on our relationship with Christ. A muddy race bike won’t get really clean without some time and care, neither will your relationship with Christ. Oh, don’t get me wrong, God’s got you, he sent His son for us all. But he wants a relationship with you and he wants you to be armed with his teachings. Only way to do that, is to get to work and go to class!Don’t wait for his Grace to come to you, get busy and seek it! Stop relying solely on the “spiritual rinse” each Sunday as your only effort to know Christ. “But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.”Deuteronomy 4:29 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”2 Timothy 3:16-17 Here is what I know for a fact, if you put in the work you will be rewarded with Gods Grace far greater than you could have ever imagined. Be Nice. Grace Wins.
