Finding Your True Identity in God
I’m going to just put it out there and maybe it helps someone, life can be a struggle and it’s full of them! Listen, I struggled for so many years in my life just trying to figure out “who” I was. It was like I was always trying to compare myself and what I did to everyone around me. Sounds ridiculous to some but it was my struggle, in hindsight, to find my identity. Clearly I wasn’t living “mine” but the one I thought other people needed me to be. I certainly wasn’t being the person God wanted me to be. You see, I was living a false identity. Maybe you can relate? Living this way is always full of disappointment and failure. How can it not? When we believe and live from anything other than the truth of who God created us to be, we are living with a false identity. Now don’t get me wrong, I grew up knowing God and personally made the decision and accepted Christ as my savior in high school. Thank the Lord for that because I can honestly say that without that Faith, I may never have known where to go when I was finally ready to find myself...the self God made. As I grew my relationship with God, He slowly but surely released me from the measure of money, people and the approval of others. But make no mistake, this is huge because those can be powerful forces pulling us from who we were meant to be. If and when we start to believe we are who God says we are, we can overcome our inner struggles. There is a life free from guilt, doubt, fear, and inadequacy waiting for us.“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”John 10:10 Be Nice, Grace Wins.
