Forgiveness: The Path to Freedom from Bitterness
Last night my wife and I were “Netflix and chillin’”, I was going thumbing through some older devotionals and I came across something I wrote or shared a while ago. I am sure I’ve shared it before but it’s definitely worth sharing again.“Harboring unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person the die; it’s not hurting the one you’re holding the grudge against, it’s hurting you. “We talk about forgiveness a lot in my devotionals I send out. Mostly because I think it is THE most essential piece when we think about what it means to be righteous and it is THE core of our salvation. We are forgiven. We are called to forgive those who trespass against us, just as God forgave us. So lets continue to keep forgiveness at the core of our thought and hearts. We can, by this simple act, release ourselves and others from the cancer that is resentment. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”Ephesians 4:32 For me, falling back on forgiveness gives me more peace than any single act or thought I can come up with. This is the only route to freedom from anger and bitterness. This is the only path to healing from our hurts.Be Nice. Grace wins.
