Handing Over Our Worries to God
I was nauseous as I drove to the visitation tonight for my dad’s passing. All day long leading up to the time I needed to go I was feeling pretty calm, like “I got this...” Then the time came to actually go. With an admittedly sheepish prayer for strength I drove to the funeral home. To my amazement and surprise, it was a joyful event and it was nothing like I was worried about it to be. Then I recalled that I shouldn’t have been worried to begin with. “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”Matthew 6:27 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”Philippians 4:6 Whether it’s the fear of losing a loved one or our world and the craziness of the times in which we live can cause anyone to have anxiety, but that’s where our faith, trust, and prayers come into play. Instead of allowing the worries of this world to drain us of our energy, we need to hand them over to God. We need to give Him our concerns and our worries through our prayers, and we should trust Him to work in ways that only He can. We are not God, but He is, and He can do more than we could ever imagine. So with thankful hearts for what He has already done, we need to hand over our worries and give Him opportunities to work in our lives for His glory. I am immensely grateful for all the love shown to me and my family through this hard time, God is truly good and my father was so blessed to have so many friends. Much love,FMJ
