Hope for the Future, Power in the Present
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”Jeremiah 29:11 If you got to watch any football over the weekend, you probably know by know that Clemson will be playing LSU in the National Championship. But if you missed the post game interview with Clemson’s coach Dabo Swinney, I encourage you to look it up. You see Coach Swinney talks about his relationship with God. His personal relationship with God and how he sees what God says in Jeremiah about His promise for hope and peace. You see, God has plans for us, for hope and a future. Not for hard times and disaster. Coach said something in his interview that is very powerful. He said, “if there is hope for the future, then there is power in the present.” That’s the power that God gives us to hang in there and persevere through whatever we are going through. He goes on to say that having that relationship with God gave him “the ability to have a hope and a belief beyond his circumstances.” Amen! Right!? I mean in the end, our faith in God and the belief in Jesus Christ as our savior has given us the promise of eternity. But the time we spend here can be filled with hope and the belief that God has plans for all of us and those plans are good according to His plans for us. It’s up to us to trust in Him and believe that everything “in His time” happens for a reason. He closes with he believes that he will be accountable for how he used the blessing that he was given and the impact he has on the lives around him. I think that’s something we all need to ask ourselves. God With Us
Why did God send Jesus? He could have chosen any way to save us, but He came close. Immanuel means God with us, close enough to touch. So let's live that way too.
