Job Had It Worse - Finding God in Hard Times
2I had lunch with a friend and business client yesterday and we were talking and sharing about our last years of struggle we’ve both had. As I got in my truck and drove away, I couldn’t help but to think, Job had it worse...I told a friend of mine this a few years ago when he was going through some difficult times. For whatever reason, those words came to my mind at that time and I shared them with him and to this very day he reminds me that it was then his attitude turned around on his circumstances. Job went through it all – everything was stripped from him. And yet, in this last chapter of Job, we see him coming to the realization that now, he truly knows God. Not only so, but also, after proving faithful, and willing to wait in the ‘meanwhile,’ God blesses him more than ever before. We don’t always need to understand why we go through difficult times – instead, our job during these times is to remind ourselves daily, sometimes even hourly, that God is sovereign and in control of everything.“Then Job answered the Lord and said: "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 'Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.' I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes."”Job 42:1-6 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”Proverbs 19:21Be Nice. Grace wins.
