Learning Contentment in Every Circumstance
I’m totally entrenched in our topic we started last week and I want to wrap it up with a simple question? How quickly can you or do you bounce back from hardship and loss? Maybe it paralyses you into a depressed state? The key is learning to press on in life regardless of your adverse circumstances.“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.”Philippians 4:11-12 ESVPaul tells us above the secret. That’s to be content regardless of the circumstances. Man, that’s tough. But this tells me the tenacity it takes to press on despite loss or difficulty in life is not something you are born with but rather something you learn. Pressing on regardless of his circumstances had nothing to do with Paul’s personality but was a part of his character, learned over time through his relationship with Christ. Yes! This is great news because the belief that people are resilient by nature is simply not true. Rather, the rebounding spirit is available for everyone! But wait, there is more. “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 3:13-14 ESVSee Paul is tell us that no matter what mistakes we made, keep going, press on. Be Nice. Grace Wins.
