Learning to Rest in God's Plan
So it’s on the forefront of everyone’s mind, so let’s talk about it. Covid-19 and Work. What’s going to happen and when are we going to get back to doing it like “normal”?Well, I’d like to say that maybe, in light of the current world situation, we rest. I mean we live in a world that is wide open, we are constantly trying to perform, keep score and we place value on how much we do...sounds crazy when you write it down. But we do, we constantly feel the need to perform, measure up, do more, keep up the grades, impress the coach, make money, and on and on and on. We are constantly doing and striving. But you see, this pace of life has left many of us gasping for breath. It’s left many of us feeling stressed out, anxious, and depressed. Many people don’t know how to handle having down time...that’s sad. So let’s look at God for a minute. He created the world in six days and then guess what? He rested. Yep, He didn’t need to, but He did. God set an example of how you and I should live. He shows us how to live the best life and apparently, taking time to rest is part of that plan. There’s a balance of work and rest that many of us ignore. I’m guilty of both sometimes if I’m honest. But this virus, like Gods plan, has a purpose. It’s a purpose that only God knows. I like to think that maybe this quarantine is Gods way if telling us how completely in control He is and we are not. Maybe it’s His way of saying, “I’m right here, be still” ? But think about this for a minute. Was the pace you were currently going prior to the virus sustainable? Why or why not? How has your current pace of life affected your mental wellness? What might it look like to implement Sabbath or a little rest in your life? Be smart, be safe, be Nice. Grace wins.
