New Year, New Purpose: Living Without Regrets
So here we go, New Year New Me stuff! Yep, we made it another year and its time to start the annual right of passage called New Year’s Resolutions. But as you make those resolutions, ask yourself a simple question, “what will my epitaph read?”Where am I going with this you may be asking? Well, have you ever got caught up in an event that you missed the joy of being in it? I have, a lot. But you see, when it comes to your relationship with the Lord, he is more interested in your presence than the present. Meaning, He’s more interested in the process than the result. Ask an accomplished athlete or entrepreneur and they will tell you the joy is in the process not the trophy. When you stand before the Lord at the end or your life, are you going to wish you had spent more time at the office? How do you live a life without regrets? Paul, in his first letter to Timothy, told him to “train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” 1 Timothy 4:7-8. We have to train ourselves to be godly, our inherent sinful nature does not allow this to come naturally. Take time to smell the roses. Life is a journey so enjoy the little things along the pathway. Paul tells us to “make the most of every opportunity” Colossians 4:5. Don’t let the little things in life, like traffic, politics or worry, trouble you. Focus on the big picture. So add this to your New Years Resolutions, Don’t sweat the little stuff. Make the most of every opportunity today. Don’t allow regret to be part of your vocabulary anymore, start living like you were dying. May your epitaph read as my father’s headstone, “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant”!Happy New Year!Be Nice,
