Stop and Really Listen: What a Friend We Have in Jesus
Every once in a while I will stop, take a breath and really listen. What I mean is we live in such a fast paced world and our brains pick up on things that provide stimulus to us an it deciphers what we are hearing or reading without us consciously really reading or hearing it. You dig what I’m trying to say? Take yesterday, I’m driving back from an ice cream social with a favorite client and I’m listening to Alan Jackson sing “What a friend we have in Jesus” and it is a beautiful rendition. But after I listened to it, I went back and really listened to it and WOW, what a message. But sometimes we don’t hear it for the beauty of the song. Then I recalled I talked about this and this song before and it’s worth talking about again. So, I thought I’d share the lyrics with you. I hope you slow down and “listen” to what they’re saying. It’s so true...What a friend we have in JesusAll our sins and griefs to bearWhat a privilege to carryEverything to God in prayerOh, what peace we often forfeitOh, what needless pain we bearAll because we do not carryEverything to God in prayerHave we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouragedTake it to the Lord in prayerCan we find a friend so faithfulWho will all our sorrows share?Jesus knows our every weaknessTake it to the Lord in prayerSee what I mean? It’s so good. Be Nice. Grace wins.
