Bear One Another's Burdens

"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

Galatians 6:2

We talk a lot in this devotional about faith, grace, and what it looks like to live like Jesus. But every so often, life hands us a real, tangible chance to actually do it. Today is one of those days.

Paul didn't say pray for one another's burdens, or feel bad about one another's burdens. He said bear them. Carry them. Take on some of the weight so someone else doesn't have to carry it alone.

Kathryn Ledford is a member of our Be Nice Grace Wins family. She's 41, a wife, a mother, and right now she's fighting colorectal cancer for the third time, and it's progressed. Conventional treatment hasn't worked, so she and her family are seeking specialized care out of state, paying for it out of pocket, along with the travel and lodging that comes with it. That's a heavy load for any family to carry.

Paul himself received financial support from the church at Philippi during his own hard season, and he didn't call it charity or pity. He called it a fragrant offering, worship. There's no shame in receiving help, and there's no small thing about offering it.

So today, I'm asking you to bear a little of Kathryn's burden with her. Give if you're able. Pray if that's what you have to offer. Send her family an encouraging word. However you can show up, show up.

Kathryn's family believes God has great plans for her. Let's help make the road there a little lighter.

You can support Kathryn's journey here.

Be Nice. Grace Wins.
