Deny Yourself: The Path of True Discipleship
It seems like every time I open up social media or watch TV, there is someone talking about self help, self talk, the inner self, love yourself...blah blah blah. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting to better ourselves, God has plans for us. But all this “self” gets misconstrued when we describe a life following Jesus. We need to deny self. “Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."”Matthew 16:24-28 When you serve more, you take less. When you give more, you need less. When you thank more, you want less. When there’s more of God, you’re Selfless.Be Nice. Grace wins.

Attraction, Not Promotion
How exactly are we an effective witness? Like a branch drawing life from the vine, we grow so the fruit we bear points back to Jesus. Attraction, not promotion.

Street Cred
Our trials build credibility in our testimony, street cred in Christ. You wouldn't take flying lessons from someone who's never been in the cockpit. Paul wrote about standing firm from a prison cell.

Doers, Not Just Hearers
Many people walk away from church because they think Christians are hypocrites. Hypocritical moments happen, but a hypocritical lifestyle is a problem. Let's be doers, not just hearers.
