Giving Thanks in All Circumstances - Even the Hard Ones
This one has to be written today. There’s is no other topic more important to me right now than this one and we have to talk about it. Work with me a minute…“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”1 Thessalonians 5:18 So, what did Paul mean when he said, “give thanks in all circumstances”? Did he mean all the good ones you’re in that are going your way? Or did he mean ALL the circumstances you’re in? Yup, including the crappy ones that you can’t understand why you’re in them! You see, we get to ask God for His eyes to see our circumstances and thank Him in all of them. Regardless of how we feel about our circumstances or the impact those circumstances are making on our lives, we get to thank Him for them. We have no idea how these circumstances are shaping us, protecting us and pointing us to Him. Look man, I get it, it’s not an easy thing to do to find gratitude in cancer that has spread and now you’re faced with intense chemo and major reconstructive surgery. (Yes, this is where I am now) But understand this, you are where you are for His plan for you and He is calling for you to look to Him. What’s really keeping you from giving God thanks for ALL you’re going through? May not be comfortable, but I promise, it’s worth it. Try thanking God today for the very thing that’s keeping you from thanking Him...It’s a mindset of intentionality that will reshape your life. Be nice, Grace Wins!FMJP.S. Please know, this devotional group was never ever meant to be about me, I won’t let it. However, I received the worst pathology this week I could for my situation. It’s heart breaking if I’m honest, the cancer has spread and I’m now going to be a ward of the Oncologist and Lord knows what other “ists”. So, I ask that you add me to your prayers and know I am fine. I know God’s got me here for a reason. As I said a week or so again, “I don’t know my future, but I know who holds it.” I can take whatever they through at me, I just pray my body can. Please keep our devotional clean, no responding to it. I love you all, this too will pass…just going to take some time and prayer.
