Go Be a Kid
I'm fascinated with the idea that we need to become more like kids. Kids don't try to control anything. They're just busy being kids. They don't care about their image, what they wear, or what other people think of them. They're just what they are. Nothing more, nothing less.
Jesus said we have to become like children to enter the kingdom, because children know they're not in control of everything. They're not anxious about tomorrow. They're just in the moment.
If there's a God, and He really loves us, it makes sense He'd want us to be like that. He'd want us to laugh. He'd want us to admit who we really are, instead of performing who we think we should be.
Here's what gets in the way. Pride.
Pride is the great destroyer of everything fun. I'm much more enjoyable to be around when I can get over myself. It's pride, more than anything else, that drives us from God.
"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39
But pride still finds a way to make us feel separated, because it convinces us we'd be better off doing things our own way.
True humility is the rejection of that idea. It's admitting our way isn't better.
The good news is, God still wants us anyway. He's restoring the world, and He'll use us to do it, not because we're good, but because we're deeply loved.
So let's all go be a kid. Seriously, just be you. He loves you.
Be Nice. Grace Wins.

82 Jimmy
Three ridiculous days at the DMV taught me something about letting go of control. My truck turned out to be an '82, not an '81, and the tag I actually wanted was there the whole time. My times are in His hands.

If I Got to Heaven Early, I Win
A friend asked if I was scared the treatment wouldn't work. What's the worst that could happen? If I got to Heaven early, I win. How's your faith? We walk by faith, not by sight.

Before I Knew It
We may never see the results of the seeds we plant, but that doesn't mean they don't matter. Faith the size of a mustard seed moves mountains. Commit your work to the Lord and trust the process.
