Growing in Humility: The Hard Way or the Harder Way
I think at some level we all struggle with pride and have a hard time with humility. I know I do, at certain times more than others. How do you grow in humility? I know of two ways. One of them is hard and the other one sucks. The first and hard one, is to value humility so much that you develop a distaste for pride and start seeking it intentionally. The second and the one that sucks is to be hammered by the world and end up humiliated that your pride is crushed. The better way is to value humility by seeking it intentionally and seeing what it can bring in your life. But how do we seek it? Well, humility is the active rejection of pride in all of its forms and the active pursuit of the character of Jesus. Humility is active. You have to turn your mind on to see those things. I kind of ask myself where pride exist in me? (I don’t like the answers to be honest) If Jesus is anything in a word, humble has got to be at the top of the list. He who did not consider equality with God but humbled himself to take the form of a servant, not only a servant but one who died on the cross in great humiliation. Every time I think about that sacrifice for my sins, it humbles me for sure. There are many ways we can be intentional and seek humility. We can bear someone else’s praise (kills me) while being forgotten. Because when this happens we always want to say what about me? We can remain open to questioning when someone challenges us. We don’t always have to be right. (Brutal) We can also stop comparing ourselves to others to feel better about ourselves. Comparison will allow pride to hit us square in the face. Don’t allow it man. Grace reminds us of who we are in Christ. When we look at our life and understand that everything is by His grace, it changes our hearts and minds to radically approach the relationships in our life. You didn’t earn it. You don’t deserve it. We were all at the bottom and Jesus saved us. Work on yourself and reject pride in your life, I know I am trying. Be Nice, Grace Wins.

A Better Script

Retreat or Restore
After our greatest failures, we want to hide. But hiding means nobody helps clean up the mess. Real men own up, confess, and let God cleanse. Retreat or repent and restore, what will you choose?

Nothing Nice to Say
Death and life are in the tongue. What comes out of the mouth flows from what's stored in the heart. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Turns out that was the whole thing.
