Keep Your Eyes on Jesus Through Life's Storms
My whole life, when I became frustrated with my circumstances, my dad would quote to me, “oh ye of little faith”. I use to make me more mad because I wanted him to tell me what to do or fix it for me. But you see, he was really just telling me where to go for my answers to my problems. “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."”Matthew 14:30-33 Peter, like me, took his eye off of Jesus and began to sink. I think we all do. But as long as he focused on Jesus, he was at peace and blind to the waves that were crashing around him. As soon as he took his eyes off of the Jesus and focused on what was going on around him, he became fearful and he ended up getting swallowed up by the waves. Man, this is me...Our circumstances may not change, but our attitude can and that is enough to find His peace. We are called to go beyond our comfort zone to reach the peace and comfort that Christ offers. Listen! Honestly, the world cannot give us Christ’s peace, but it can’t take it away from us either. Right now, in this moment we can surrender our peace in Christ by shifting our focus from Jesus and allowing our deepest fears and anxieties become more powerful than our faith. Or we can rise up and stand on the waves of chaos and move toward the only person who can keep us afloat, the choice is yours. Be Nice, Grace Wins
