Right Where You Are
Let's keep talking about listening to God and looking for His answers.
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you."
Psalm 32:8
Look, I think it's pretty evident that God speaks to all of us through different circumstances. Those can be events, opportunities, and even setbacks. Sometimes it's an encounter with someone new, or a friend showing up at just the right time. He can even speak to us through the blessings and talents He's given each of us. The point is, they all count, and we need to learn to embrace them.
Many of us become fixated on what we think we need, rather than allowing for a larger perspective than our own. We become so committed to making things work our way that we miss how God has already spoken and shaped us for maturity through our unique circumstances. We believe, all too easily, that the grass is greener in pastures where He hasn't led us.
Life takes patience. Time takes time. But as time goes by, we mature through the process. Working a seemingly dead-end job. Dealing with highly irritating people. Taking discipline on the chin for something stupid. Working our way up through the ranks honestly and ethically instead of cheating the system. Through it all, we begin to discover what we're made of. We start to settle into our own skin, so to speak. We don't get freaked out by the ups and downs, but learn the God-ordained rhythms of life.
Patience pays off, and opportunities and answers will present themselves. Most of the time, you'll find it's right where you already are.
God speaks to us through big and little things in our lives. How well we hear Him depends on how willing we are to embrace where we are right now.
Be Nice. Grace Wins.

Reluctant Heroes
No hero in the Bible ever set out to be one. Mary, David, Abraham, they just did what was in front of them. Walk humbly with your God. That's the whole thing, isn't it?

A Love for Truth
When you tell lies, you're not just lying to others, you're lying to yourself, and lying to God. Jesus called lying Satan's native language. Let your love for God be accompanied by a love for truth.

As Strong As We Are Honest
Pride, lust, entitlement, the Big Three. We are only as strong as we are honest about them. We become strong by admitting weakness, then starting a consistent battle to eliminate it.
