Time: God's Precious Gift in Our Fragile Journey
225/31/23I’ve written about this before, but do you ever wonder why as we get older time seems to just fly by? Well, years ago I heard a preacher talk about this and he gave a really great explanation. You see, think back to when you were a little boy or girl and you wanted a new ball glove, baby doll or whatever. Maybe your parents said, “next year” or “you’ll have to wait for Christmas”...neither of those answers we acceptable as it would surely take an eternity. Well, now imagine that was when you were five years old. One full year was one fifth of the life you had lived, of course it would seem like forever. But when you’re 50, it’s just not that big of a deal. With me? Good...So, now that we’ve established that, have you ever wondered when time began? What is this concept of time? Who created time?Well, I’ve never given it much thought until the last two years fighting cancer and I think I’ve always taken time for granted. The answer is God created time, and it did not happen by some random big bang! The Bible opens up with the whole concept of time, in the book of Genesis it speaks of God coming onto the scene of total darkness, emptiness, and nothingness. It tells us of the Holy Spirit brooding over this murky scene, and then God spoke his first recorded words, "Let there be light; and there was light." After God spoke light into existence, he saw it was good, and God distinguished between light and darkness and this marked the beginning of time. From this understanding of the beginning of time, it will stand to reason, there must also be an end to time. I present to you today that time is a gift from God and we must learn to value the time we have been given. Be present in everything you do and cherish the days God has blessed you with. Spend time with friends and loved ones, tell them you love them. Yesterday, I was saddened to find out one of my “chemo buddies” wasn’t at treatment. He won’t be coming back. He has passed away and is with our Heavenly Father. Slow Salute Sir. What are you spending your time on today and is it adding or taking away from your life?Be Nice. Grace Wins.
