Why Easter Really, Truly Matters

1 Corinthians 15:17, Romans 5:8

Today is Good Friday and I want to take a moment to talk about why Easter matters. And I don’t just mean the holiday. I mean why it really, truly matters.

Everything we talk about in these messages, grace, forgiveness, hope, identity, peace, all of it goes back to one thing. The cross. Without what happened on that cross, none of this works. Paul said it himself in 1 Corinthians 15:17, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” That’s how important this is. Without the resurrection, we’ve got nothing. No hope. No forgiveness. No future. Just us trying to be good enough on our own, and we all know how that goes.

But here’s the part that really gets me. Think about what it cost. God didn’t send a text message. He didn’t send an angel. He sent His Son. His only Son. And His Son didn’t just show up, He suffered. He was beaten, mocked, spit on, and nailed to a cross. For you. For me. For people who didn’t even want Him.

Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Not after we cleaned up our act. Not after we earned it. While we were still a mess. That’s not casual love, y’all. That’s all-in, hold-nothing-back, give-everything love.

And that’s what makes Easter different from every other holiday. It’s not about bunnies and baskets. It’s about the God of the universe saying, “I love you so much that I’ll pay the price you could never pay.” And then three days later, proving that not even death could stop that love.

So this weekend, as you’re with your families and maybe heading to church, let it hit you fresh. What happened on that cross and at that empty tomb is the reason we have hope today. It’s the reason grace wins. It’s the reason any of this matters at all.

You pickin’ up what I’m laying down?

Happy Easter, y’all. He is risen.

Be Nice. Grace Wins.
