Worship the One Who Died: Victory Over Death
You know, we are all pushed in many ways by others in directions that can alter our relationship with Christ. I read a quote yesterday that said, “don’t let someone who didn’t die for affect the way you worship someone who did.” Wow, I love it. We read in Revelations, “When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”Revelation 1:17-18 On the face of it, it might not seem as though Jesus finished his job. On the face of it, it looks as though Satan is winning. Turn on the news for five minutes and you see people’s lives, and your life, are hurt by cruelty, crime, and disease. Violence is everywhere. Marriages are collapsing. Children are abused by people they trusted. People and countries hate one another. Jesus died. I get it, that looks like defeat. But he rose again. And his resurrection guarantees his complete, unconditional victory over sin, death, hell, and Satan.Jesus gives you the gift of certainty, of a job completed. Your sins have been forgiven, your grave is now just a bed for a short nap, and your name has already been lettered on the door to your forever home in heaven.Be Nice, Grace Wins
