Attraction, Not Promotion
I've been reading through Philippians and talking about how we need to get to work spreading the word of Jesus. It's been enlightening reading about Paul, his struggles, his witness. But it's been brought up to me and asked, "how exactly are we an effective witness?"
Well, look at it like this. Jesus gave us the example of how God wants us to live. He embodies the character God wants us to have. So the short answer is: be like Jesus. Ha, I know. Easier said than done.
But we all have a testimony that's unique to us, and it needs to be shared.
You see, it's God's character He wants to develop in our lives so others can see it. And we can only do that through our personal relationship with Jesus.
Jesus said it like this:
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."
John 15:5
Kind of like a branch that draws its life from the vine, we grow in our relationship with Jesus so the fruit we bear points back to Him.
And here's what's cool. When we're growing, both believers and non-believers notice. We end up spreading the gospel of Jesus by attraction, not promotion.
When God's love is flowing through us, we become a great witness to His grace.
So be ready, man. Someone may be observing, and they may inquire of you when you least expect it. Your personal testimony of salvation and of God's ongoing work in your own life is a great starting point.
Be Nice. Grace Wins.

Your Story to Tell
Just back from the Rockies, listening to old friends and new ones tell their stories got me thinking about sharing our own, the story of God's forgiveness. Who do you know who needs to hear it?

The Only Bible They'll Read
If someone followed you around all day, would they find Jesus? Not church, not rules, not your favorite preacher, would your life lead them to Jesus? You might be the only Bible some people read.
