Deny Self and Follow Jesus
It seems like every time I open up social media or watch TV, there is someone talking about self help, self talk, the inner self, love yourself...blah blah blah. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting to better ourselves, God has plans for us. But all this “self” gets misconstrued when we describe a life following Jesus. We need to deny self. “Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."”Matthew 16:24-28 When you serve more, you take less. When you give more, you need less. When you thank more, you want less. When there’s more of God, you’re Selfless.Be Nice. Grace wins. FMJ*Western NC is far worse than what the media is showing you. It’s sad beyond anything I could imagine. But, there are so many good people out there, including YOU, that have reached out and are helping how they can. While I was on frequency most of the day in the search and rescue area, you could hear the efforts of the other pilots. We were able to get into fields other planes could not and helped so many, but it’s just a drop in the bucket. Please continue to pray for the people needing help and for the people still missing. Pray for the volunteers and the pilots that they have the strength to keep moving and safety.
