Where You Place Your Hope Matters

So, we have been talking about being grateful and giving thanks for all our blessings. But a lot of times when we look to find those blessings we get tripped up by disappointments. These disappointments come from where we put our hope and expectations. You see, expectations is a basic belief something is going to happen. For example, I expect to get that new deal or I hope to get that job promotion. I expect and hope to win _____. You get the idea. I can tell you I’ve been down this road most my life, and every time I put my hope and expectation in man I have been disappointed. Put your expectation and hope in the Lord and you will not be disappointed. “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.”Psalm 62:5-7 Look, when we put our expectation and hope in our family, our company, or our sporting abilities, we get disappointed and put tremendous pressure on our loved ones. Expecting our spouse or our kid to excel where we didn’t is putting an unnecessary burden on them. Your spouse or employer is not your provider, God is. He may use your spouse or employer to provide for your family, but ultimately it is God who cares for you.
